Club objectives

The Tucson Schutzhund club is a group of people that is affiliated with the United States Schutzhund Club.
Members of Tucson Schutzhund Club should be committed to participate in Training geared toward the accomplishment of a Schutzhund title. Objective is to support breeders of working dog breeds that desire to work their dogs in all three phases. All working dog breeds are welcome to the Club.

What is Schutzhund training?

What is Schutzhund training?

Schutzhund is simply translated the German word for Protection Dog. It is a combination of Tracking, Obedience and Bite work. A dog and Trainer have to pass all three phases in one trial in order to accomplish a Schutzhund title. There are three levels of Schutzhund titles each one build up on the other adding more different exercises as level increases.
The Schutzhund title in Germany is a necessity to have on breeding animals in order to acquire registration paper on litters of puppies. The Schutzhund test is created to assure the working temperament of dogs utilized in a breeding program. Schutzhund in my opinion is the most demanding dog sport in number of different trained behaviors as well as highest demand of accuracy in performance.
